August 13, 2026 - Mr. Ian Crawford

The Greene County Historical Society is pleased to host Mr. Ian Crawford on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 6 pm at the GCHS Headquarters in Eutaw AL. Mr. Crawford is a senior instructor at The University of Alabama, where he teaches courses on historic preservation and material culture. He is an active member of the arts and preservation community in West Alabama, serving on the board of the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, Blackbelt Workshop, Hale County Library, The Greensboro Opera House, and the University's representative on the Alabama Historical Commission. A 2012 graduate of the Tulane University School of Architecture, Ian has a deep-seated love for design, material culture, historic preservation, art, and sustainability. He has previously served as the Director of the Jemison Van de Graaff Mansion Foundation and the Executive Director of the Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society. Ian began teaching adjunct classes in interior design and art history before joining the Clothing, Textiles, and Interior Design Department full-time in 2018. Notably, he was a member of the City of Tuscaloosa Bicentennial Commission, where he played a key role in developing an educational tourism app. For the past ten years he has been working on restoring and enhancing his 1845 Greensboro residence, "The Oaks". Mr. Crawford will give a presentation on "Historic Interiors."
